What is a Self-Advocacy Model?

Based on research findings that strongly link student self-advocacy to successful academic performance, Wake Forest University has adopted a Self-Advocacy Model for disability accommodations.

Students often need to play a more direct role in communicating about accommodations approved by our office with professors in the classroom than may have been in place during high school. Our office is happy to support students in understanding this process and developing self-advocacy skills.

You can learn more about this model on the Self-Advocacy handout.
